Deborah: Judge and Prophetess ; under the "Palm of Deborah".

As Israel completed the forty year journey in the wilderness, leadership transitioned from Moses to Joshua. With the passing of Joshua, God established judges to oversee the people and arbitrate matters in a manner consistent with the Mosaic law.

    A WOMAN CALLED
AND ANOINTED BY GOD

Deborah was one of those judges. Not only was she a judge; she was also a prophetess. This meant she could see events God was unfolding and speak about them with unwavering confidence. This is how she was able to know exactly who God wanted to lead a battle—a man from the tribe of Naphtali named Barak, the son of Abinoam.

A GODLY WIFE

This judge and prophetess was also a godly wife. Here she is shown with her husband, Lapidoth. It is a beautiful thing when a man understands the calling of God upon his wife.

ATTRIBUTES OF A GODLY WOMAN

Judicial wisdom, spiritual insight, and virtuousness. Deborah was a stellar example to the women of Israel in our ancient history. As this story unfolds,

we will also see she was courageous; and not afraid to accompany Barak to the battle. She knew by faith victory was already assured by God.
